Congregation Breakfast
How good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity! Psalm 133:1
The congregational breakfast on March 10 was yet another example of how good it is to gather together as God’s people at Good Shepherd. As we are still emerging from the pandemic, there is a great hunger: not simply to share meals but also to create opportunities for conversation.
It takes a great deal of work to create such an event. It involved many people coming together to set up, bake egg bakes and muffins, and other delicious food/baked goods. It took people working hard to prepare the breakfast and clean up when we finished. Thanks to Cathy Davenport for coordinating and organizing a team of volunteers.
To see over 100 people sitting together at tables, enjoying a meal, talking, and laughing together made it all worthwhile.
The event was also an opportunity to uplift two feeding ministries we support here at Good Shepherd, Camden Promise Food Shelf, and Loaves and Fishes. It is one of many events we will gather for during a year-long emphasis in 2024. It is a reminder that we are not only God’s gathered people in this place, we are also God’s called people, called to be a blessing in a world where so many go to bed hungry at night.
Camden Food Shelf, located in Gethsemane Lutheran Church on the North side of Minneapolis, is in a food desert. They provide non-perishable food, produce, and meats to hundreds every week. Our volunteers consistently help to make sure this ministry runs smoothly.
Loaves and Fishes serve hundreds of hot meals each week out of Peace House, a community resource located in the shadow of 94 and 35W. Our volunteers prepare and serve a hot meal while connecting with individuals in our backyard.

Thanks to your generous gifts, we raised over $2500 in support of Camden Food Shelf and Loaves and Fishes.
