ASP Mission Trip and the Staff Retreat
A week down south
The last week of July and into the first week of August, a group from Good Shepherd headed south to the hollers of Harlan, Kentucky, for their yearly Appalachia Service Project (ASP) mission trip.
Throughout the week, the group worked at several sites, including a home they worked on the year before. It was a special blessing to return and reconnect with the family.
The Good Shepherd crew did what Good Shepherd does best: showed up, worked hard, and gave it 110% all week long. They tackled projects, fixed a few things that previous groups had missed, and made sure every job was finished with care and the Good Shepherd standard.
It was a joy to welcome the ASP group home during worship on the Sunday they returned and hear the stories, memories, and experiences they brought back with them. We are grateful for the ways they served and represented Good Shepherd throughout their time in Kentucky!
Good Shepherd Staff Retreat
At the beginning of August, the Good Shepherd staff spent three days together at Mount Olivet Retreat Center.
The retreat included team-building sessions with LeaderWise, time to plan for the year ahead, and plenty of games and laughter along the way. Most importantly, it gave the staff an opportunity to slow down, spend time together, and strengthen the relationships that make our work possible.
It was time well spent as we look ahead to another year of ministry and prepare to serve together in the year ahead!
