June Foundation Grants
At its June meeting, the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd Foundation Board approved the following grants:
Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota
The Foundation granted $10,000 to Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS) as part of its capital drive to support the new Center for Changing Lives Frogtown/Rondo (CFCL) in St. Paul. The renovated CFCL will offer a continuum of services in one building and enable LSS to serve additional children, youth, and families, specifically youth experiencing homelessness and families needing affordable childcare. Over 800 individuals will be served through activities at CFCL each year. Good Shepherd has supported LSS for many years, including benevolence giving.
Camden Promise
The Foundation granted $10,000 to Camden Promise for its initiative to support the increased use of its food shelf and to address the decreased supply of food through government sources. Camden Promise shared that it is responding to client food shelf use numbers “that have exploded from 6000 individuals per month to over 16,000 in May, 2025.” Camden Promise has a long-standing relationship with Good Shepherd. Good Shepherd provides volunteers for the Camden Promise food shelf and shop, as well as offering members and friends opportunities to donate clothing and household items.
Good Shepherd Anti-Racism Group
The Foundation granted $10,000 to Good Shepherd’s Anti-Racism Group for its “Stories the Land Holds” initiative. This initiative will provide educational opportunities for the congregation and the surrounding neighborhood throughout 2025-2026. Speakers, events, and gatherings will focus on the history and stories of Good Shepherd’s neighborhood, enabling understanding of past decisions and how they affect our life together today. The Anti-Racism Group hopes that this initiative will “create a broader community, deepen understanding, and share in God’s grace, love, and hope in our corner of the world.”
2025 Grants
The Foundation Board has approved grants totaling $43,600 in 2025. Due to the dollar amount of grants already awarded in 2025, the Foundation Board has temporarily paused consideration of grant requests. This pause will end no later than January 2026.
Thank You!
Members of Good Shepherd are also members of the Foundation. Thank you for all you do to support the Foundation and its work. The Foundation is grateful for memorial, celebration, and legacy gifts that enable the Foundation to continue its support for the congregation and its outreach.
