Communion

A reminder of our baptism

Pastor Deb CommunionIn Holy Communion we are reminded weekly of the promise of our baptisms – that God comes to us as we are.  As we stand or kneel for communion we hold out our very empty hands to receive the bread and the wine.  In the emptiness of those outstretched hands we are reminded that we come before God ready to receive from God what we cannot give ourselves: a living hope, which comes through the promise of forgiveness and new life.

God’s table is open to all.  If you have questions about communion, communion practice at Good Shepherd, or desire to learn more about this special meal, please contact one of our pastors.  To learn more about first communion, click here.
