What is mission?

Here at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, we seek to offer ourselves in love and servanthood to people in places near and far from Minneapolis . Like the disciples accompanying the stranger along the road to Emmaus, we seek to be companions to people in Minnesota , Ethiopia and Latin America , those who recognize Christ's presence in their lives and those who do not. Our paradigm is one of respectful mutuality wherein mission is lived out, in part, ".in respectful and listening relationships with those to whom we would proclaim the gospel and share the life of God; people of all living faiths and those who claim no faith."

Our ministry of mission is a call to love, heal and restore the world to the fullness and wholeness intended by God. And we acknowledge our need to be transformed in order to be agents of love and justice, redemption and healing, in order to be channels of God's activity.
