This series, encompassing five weeks, builds week to week around the idea of what God does in our lives. And when God acts, we experience newness of life and take part in that life in joyful thanks. How do we connect what God does – and the effects and implications of what God does – to our own lives?
What does it mean for us to say that we are God’s creations, God’s called and chosen creatures?
CREATION BY THE WORD: Genesis 1:1-2:4a
Created: Creation by word; light, life; it was, it is, good.
BINDING OF ISAAC: Genesis 21:1-3; 22:1-14

JACOB’S DREAM: Genesis 27:1-4, 15-23; 28:10-17
Chosen: Jacob gets a blessing by trickery, flees, dreams of a ladder with angels ascending and descending. Receives God’s promise.
GOD’S NAME IS REVEALED: Exodus 2:23-25; 3:1-15
Called: God’s name is revealed: “I Am.” Moses is a reluctant messenger, but God uses him to deliver Israel.
GOD PROVIDES MANNA: Exodus 16:1-18
Fed and forgiven: People complain, God provides manna. Manna requires faith in what God gives.
