Children's Ministries at Good Shepherd!
Join us every Sunday from 9:30 to 10:15 as we use art, drama, music and games to learn about the Bible and the joy of being God’s children. Stay and worship with us at 10:30 where the kids are always welcome to help lead Kids’ Time in front of the congregation each week with Tor Johnson, our Director of Children’s Ministries and Performing Arts.
Sunday School is for ages 2 through 5th Grade. Register here.
Our Vacation Bible School theme for this summer is “Tales from the Treehouse”. Please join us June 10-14 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for fun art, games, music and drama as we learn exciting stories from the Bible. We’re adding a dramatic performance with music that we’ll perform for families on Friday, June 14 and, once again, for the 10:30 service on Sunday, June 16. The age range is 3 years old to kids who have completed 4th grade. Find out more information and register here.
Palm Sunday Presentation
Palm, or Passion, Sunday will be a lot different this year. Our Sunday School kids will be presenting a Passion Play. The story will take us from Jesus riding in on a donkey to his resurrection and meeting Mary Magdalene outside of the tomb that could not contain him. We will be presenting our Passion Play at both services on Palm Sunday, April 14. Please come and worship with us!
If you are interested in having your child receive communion, please join Mandy Bond, Interim Director of Children’s Ministries; Mark Halvorson, Director of Youth & Family Ministry; and Tor Johnson, Director of Children’s Ministries & Performing Arts on Saturday, April 13, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. We will explore the meaning of communion, decorate chalices and bake our own bread. There is no age limit. Contact Tor Johnson.
Tor Johnson is our Director of Children’s Ministries and Performing Arts. Tor has been a staff member at Good Shepherd many years, working with children and families, mostly through drama and music ministries. Tor directs all of the plays and musicals at Good Shepherd as well as conducts the Chorister Choir for 4th-6th graders, and he leads our Summer Musical Theater Camps. He is excited to be adding more drama to Children’s Ministries as a way of enhancing the stories of Jesus and the Bible. If you are interested in volunteering for Sunday School and/or Vacation Bible School, please contact Tor.
As a member for just a over a year and the baptism here of my daughter, Addy, I am delighted and honored to the call of Interim Director of Children and Family Ministry for the coming year. As an Associate with InterServe Ministries, I bring a unique set of gifts and resources. Before the birth of my daughter I was Director of Student Ministries at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Lyndale. (This was where I met Pastor Heather Roth Johnson, becoming colleagues and eventually dear friends. She's godmomma to Addy.)
